After breakfast, we set off for what many travelers consider the highlight of the entire journey—the magnificent Ban Gioc Waterfall.

Located directly on the border between Vietnam and China, Ban Gioc is one of the largest natural waterfalls in Asia. Cascading over multiple limestone terraces, surrounded by emerald rice fields and dramatic karst mountains, it offers one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the country.

Unlike many crowded tourist attractions, Ban Gioc still retains a peaceful atmosphere, especially during the early morning hours. You'll have plenty of time to walk along the viewing paths, photograph the waterfalls from different angles, or take an optional bamboo raft ride that brings you remarkably close to the rushing water.

After exploring the waterfall, we continue to the nearby Nguom Ngao Cave, one of Vietnam's most impressive limestone cave systems.

Formed over hundreds of millions of years, the cave stretches deep beneath the mountains and features enormous chambers filled with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. Carefully lit pathways reveal incredible natural formations that have inspired local legends for generations.

Following lunch at a local restaurant, we continue our cultural journey to Phuc Sen Blacksmith Village.

For centuries, the Nung ethnic community here has preserved the traditional art of blacksmithing. Walking through the village, you'll hear the rhythmic sound of hammers striking glowing steel as skilled craftsmen continue techniques passed down through many generations.

Watching these artisans create knives, farming tools, and handcrafted products offers a fascinating glimpse into a way of life that has changed very little over time.

Our final stop of the day is the peaceful Phia Thap Incense Village.

Nestled among limestone mountains, this charming village is famous for producing beautiful handmade incense using natural herbs, bamboo, and forest plants. During the drying season, colorful bundles of incense spread across village courtyards create one of Cao Bang's most photogenic scenes.

You'll have the opportunity to learn about the traditional production process, meet local families, and understand how this unique craft continues to support the community today.

As the sun begins to set, we return to our accommodation after a full day filled with extraordinary landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and unforgettable local experiences.

Hidden within the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark, Angel Eye Mountain is famous for the enormous natural hole that passes directly through the limestone cliff, creating the appearance of a giant eye watching over the valley.

Surrounded by wide-open grasslands, seasonal lakes, grazing buffaloes, and dramatic karst peaks, this peaceful landscape feels worlds away from Vietnam's busy cities. During the rainy season, the valley transforms into a shimmering wetland, while the dry season reveals endless green meadows that are perfect for walking and photography.

You'll have plenty of time to explore the area, enjoy panoramic viewpoints, and capture some of the most unique scenery in all of Northeast Vietnam.

Continue to Thang Hen Lake

Leaving Angel Eye Mountain behind, we continue toward the tranquil Thang Hen Lake, one of Cao Bang's most beautiful freshwater lakes.

Nestled among towering limestone mountains and ancient forests, Thang Hen is renowned for its crystal-clear emerald water that changes color throughout the seasons. Unlike Vietnam's larger tourist lakes, the peaceful atmosphere here allows visitors to truly slow down and appreciate nature.

Take a leisurely walk along the lakeshore, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and enjoy the reflections of the surrounding cliffs mirrored on the calm water.

Take a stroll along the Bang River, browse local markets, or simply relax with a Vietnamese coffee while reflecting on the incredible experiences of the past three days.
